HICKORY-- Alta Pruette Lail, 88, of Hickory passed away peacefully at Catawba Regional Hospice on Monday, January 15, 2018.

Born Alta Mae Pruette in Cleveland County on January 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Harace and Ethel Fulbright Pruette.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Evoy Lail; sisters Doshia Houser and Lona Willis and a brother Grady Pruette.

Alta was a nurse for 10 years at Frye Regional Hospital, followed by 20 years of nursing care at Brian Center. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Dwight Lail of Hickory, Delbert Lail and wife Lisa of Valdese, Dennis Lail and wife Kathy of Hickory and Don Lail and wife Vickie of Advance; sisters Shirley Pruette and Clara Glenn; brothers Calvin Pruette, Derell Pruette and Carrell Pruette; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm at Hickory Funeral Home.

The funeral will be Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ray Raymer officiating.

Burial will follow at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Devon Bailey, Kennon Bailey, Chris Bowman, Justin Bowman, Jesse Lail, Larry Lail, Oliver Payne and Gary Price.
