Amanda Hopper,

Amanda Hopper, 90, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Peak Resources of Shelby.

She was the third oldest child of the late Luther Long and Minnie Lattimore Long. She was born on April 3, 1935, in Cleveland County, NC.
Amanda grew up in Boiling Springs and attend Green Bethel School. She was employed by Sadie Mills in Kings Mountain, NC and Doran Mills, from where she retired from. She joined Green Bethel Baptist Church at an early age. She served as a Foster Grandparent at Elizabeth Elementary School through United Way. She also fostered her niece.
Amanda loved cooking and was known for it, inviting her whole neighborhood to come and feast with her. She was also known as the 'Candy Lady'. She was always joyful, laughing, and loving. She cared for everyone and was known as 'Aunt Mandy'. She was very generous; no matter what it was, she was always giving or sharing. Her presence will be greatly missed. She was a "light" to her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles Hopper; Charlie Lattimore, Easter Huskey, and Martha Stover.
She leaves her precious memories to her son, Charles Hopper of Shelby, NC; sister, Dorothy Wilson of Boiling Springs; five grandchildren, Annette Hopper, Erica Hopper and Roman Hopper (Esheka) all of of Albany, GA, Eric Hopper of Atlanta, Ga, and Sherponica Tate of Durham, NC; four great grandchildren, Keezi'a Hopper, Gabriel Hopper, Moriah Hopper, and Nahji Brown; three great great grandchildren, Aaliyah Bush, Jakaarra Brown, and Corey Jolley, Jr.; special niece, Deborah Davis of Shelby, NC, whom she thought of as a daughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
