American Cancer Society Relay For Life Hall of Fame member Jeff Ross on a mission to raise $16,000 in 16 Days
Jeff Ross

Jeff Ross of Shelby, N.C., is a superstar in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement. For 16 years Ross has been on a mission to raise money to find cures for cancer, and over the next 16 days he aims to raise $16,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Ross says his initial involvement in Relay For Life came after the loss of his mother, Mildred R. Allen. "16 years ago I stood in a hospital and listened to the doctor tell my mother, 'you have cancer.' Sadly, a rare gastric cancer took her life 29 days later," recounts Ross. It was at that point that he made it his life's purpose to support the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission by getting involved with the Relay For Life program. He hasn't stopped since.
Ross also fights back for his wife, Tammy, who just completed a tough battle with an aggressive form of breast cancer. "She survived!" says Ross who continued, "The money I raise for the American Cancer Society funds important cancer research, supports cancer patient programs and services, and goes toward other important activities that help save lives from cancer."
Jeff Ross inspires Relay volunteers across the country on a regular basis and is one of eight individuals who have been inducted into the Relay For Life Hall of Fame. His passion for this important mission has only strengthened over the years, especially as cancer has touched the lives of others he cares for.
In honor of his now 16 years of serving as a committed Relay volunteer, on June 16, 2016, Ross launched his challenge of raising $16,000 in 16 days. To check out Jeff's progress, or make a donation to support his efforts, click the "more" link below.
About the American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of nearly three million volunteers saving lives and fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. As the largest voluntary health organization, the Society's efforts have contributed to a 22 percent decline in cancer death rates in the US during the past two decades, and a 50 percent drop in smoking rates. Thanks in part to our progress nearly 14.5 million Americans who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will celebrate more birthdays this year. We're determined to finish the fight against cancer. As the nation's largest private, not-for-profit investor in cancer research, we're finding cures and ensuring people facing cancer have the help they need and continuing the fight for access to quality health care, lifesaving screenings, clean air, and more.
