Ami Chancellor-Phillips

Ami Chancellor-Phillips, 48, passed away in Orlando, FL on August 20, 2022 after complications from an allergic reaction to peanuts.

Born in Macon, GA on September 21, 1973, she was the daughter of Caroline Alice Axson Phillips and John Arthur Grimsley. Ami grew up in Jones County, GA where she graduated from JCHS High School Class of 1991. She was a Veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division and was stationed at RAF MildenHall in Suffolk, England. Some years later, Ami graduated from Cleveland Community College in Shelby, NC and enjoyed a career in Software Programming. She was a member of Elam Baptist Church in Gray, Georgia and was a gifted linguist of spoken and digital words. She enjoyed a lifetime of reading and lived many amazing lives through every story. She was a skilled author whose books will be published posthumously.

Ami is preceded in death by her grandparents, Caroline and James Phillips of Gray, GA, Bill and Ethel Axson of Citra, FL, Arthur and Zelma Grimsley of St. Mary's, GA, as well as her step father, John H. Beaver Sr. of Shelby, NC.

Ami is survived by her wife Lauri of Maitland, FL, her mother, Caroline (David) Freeman of Shelby, NC, her father John (Daphne) Grimsley of Washington, DC, sister, Sally (Patrick) Arnold, daughter, Alaura (Tim) Shroyer of Augusta, GA. Son, Derek Shroyer of Shelby, NC and her grandson, Benjamin Key of Augusta, GA.

Also left to cherish her memory, her loving nieces and nephews, Morgan, Jonah, Jaxson, and Isaac of Bonaire, GA, her aunt, Gaye (Steve) Tolbert of Shelby, NC, Linda (Kenn) Ward, Byron, GA, aunt Margaret Holt and uncle, Pete Axson of Ocala, FL, as well as, several nieces and nephews and a lifelong friend, Aindrea Braswell of Warner Robins, GA.

A celebration of life service will take place in central Georgia at a later date.
