Mr. Andrew (Jay) Jackson Jones went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 2, 2026 in Chesapeake, Virginia. He was born on June 18, 1956 in Cleveland County, NC to the late John H. Jones, Sr. and Eddie Mae Jones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Mary A. Webber "Chubby," James Jones "Toot," John H. Jones, Jr. "Chief," Roosevelt Jones, Bobby Jones, Calvin Jones "Catfish," Vera Jones "Lucy," and Henry Jones "Leebone."

Left to cherish fond memories of him are his children, André McSwain of Winston Salem, NC, Yolanda Thompson (Jimmy Sr.) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Markeith Spikes (Shito) of Bowie, Maryland, and Diamond Jones of Shelby, NC; two sisters, Carolyn Dawkins of Shelby, NC and Johnnie Mae Wimbush of Hickory, NC; two brothers, Toney Jones of Asheville, NC and Roger Jones of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Taylor Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, Jr. and Rylee Thompson, all of Chesapeake, VA, Amira Spikes and Alyxandra Spikes, both of Bowie, Maryland and Breeze Thurman of Shelby, NC; and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Lawndale in Lawndale, NC. Burial took place at the church cemetery.
