Anita Kathryn Ledford
Anita Kathryn Ledford, born March 5, 1985 went home to her heavenly Father on Friday, November 6, 2020.
She fought a courageous battle against brain cancer since 2013.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Columbus and Macie Swink Ledford, Grady Cooke and Hattie Poole Cooke; aunts and uncles, Walter Ledford, Roger and Pat Ledford, Buddy Self, Delbert and Versey Cooke, Jack and Marilyn Cooke, Ralph and Judy Cooke, Starlene and Buck Bridges, Pat Cooke and Flay Cooke; cousins, Neal Cooke, Eric Cooke, Chip Cooke, Johnathan Cooke, Oscar Harley and a special friend, Amelia McNeilly.

Anita received her Masters in Parks, Recreation and Tourism from the University of Utah in 2013. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from NC State in 2007. She worked a college internship and a professional internship at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida after college. She was an Honors graduate from Burns High School in 2003. "Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog." She was a member of Casar United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included reading, baking, collecting cookbooks and traveling.

Anita was a world traveler who never met a stranger. She visited Ireland, England, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil and Canada. She traveled from Hawaii to Maine, Florida to Washington and most of the states in between.

She worked for Disney World, AAA, the Aviary in Utah, International Tourism, Publix as a baker, Premier Jewelry, and Fairfield Inn and Suites in Shelby. Anita Volunteered at the Salt Lake City Welcome Center, Museum of Salt Lake City, and Hospice of Cleveland County at Wendover.

She is survived by her earthly parents, Arthur and Judy Cooke Ledford of Lawndale; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Nathaniel and Kellie Jackson Ledford of Shelby and Wesley and Kellie Boggs Ledford of Fallston; her nephews, whom she dearly loved, Ethan and Emmett Ledford of Shelby; her cat, Jasper; her uncles, Andy Ledford of Lawndale and Hal Cooke of Forest City; her aunts, Joyce Drum (Pervie) of Cherryville, Shirley Cooke of Shelby, Janet Cooke of Fallston and Gladys Self of Lawndale and many cousins and friends.

She will be remembered from her contagious smile and joy in serving others.

A graveside service will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Casar United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. William Lovelace will conduct the Celebration of Life Service.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Calvin Caunt and Kindred at Home of Shelby for their excellent care of Anita this year. To all of you who prayed for her and the family, called, sent messages and gifts, brought food, we cannot express how you have helped us through this time. She always had a smile at the mention of your name. May God Bless you all.
