Mrs. Annie Mae Wray Ratchford, 83, of 202 Autumn Woods Drive, Kings Mountain, NC passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at her residence. She was born in Cleveland County, NC on July 14, 1936 to the late Robert Flay Wray and Mary Jane Hannah Wray.
Mrs. Wray was a homemaker all her life. She was a great cook. Her food was enjoyed by many and she was known for her polk salad, neck bones and whole cake. Annie was a faithful member of the Elks Lodge of Shelby. Annie loved her family but, her grandchildren were very special to her. Annie will be missed by her family and the community of Shelby where she is known as a "Living Legend".
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Ratchford; one daughter, Suzanne Ratchford; one son, Charles Ratchford; and her maternal grandparents, James and Mary Wilson; grandson, Terry Ratchford; granddaughter, Andrea Boykins and a daughter-in-law, Penny Ratchford.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Marshall Ratchford of Kings Mountain, NC, Elisha Ratchford (Teresa) of Shelby, Demaris Ratchford (Carolyn) of Wellford, SC and Efrem Ratchford (Kelly) of Kings Mountain; one sister, Patricia Hines (Johnny) of Augusta, GA; daughter-in-law, Rita Ratchford of Shelby; fourteen grandchildren, Tarazetta Black, Marshall Ratchford, Jr., Aubrey Ratchford, LaQuandra Ratchford, Bryant Ratchford, Nataja Boykins (J.Q.), Charlene Ratchford, Deion Ratchford, Michelle Alexander, Ashley Penn , Adrian Watson, Jerry Ratchford (Michelle), Jadin Odoms, Jamaraus (Kayla) Black; nephews, Antwan Wright and Bryant Wright; nieces, Crystal Jones and Ursula Wright special friend, Wilbert Nails and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Mount Calvary Baptist Church Shelby. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery.
