Anthony Vagnozzi is Outstanding Civil Air Patrol Cadet of the Year

On Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 the Shelby Civil Air Patrol selected one of their cadets for the Outstanding Cadet of the Year Award. They brought in the DAR (Daugthers of the American Revolution) to present this award and medal. This year's recipient was Senior Master Sergeant Anthony Vagnozzi, of Cleveland County.

Anthony Vagnozzi started in the CAP program in January of 2016 and has been a great example to his cadets. He is currently involved in multiple activities which include the Shelby Civil Air Patrol Squadron, 4-H serving as the West District Vice President, Boy Scout and now Eagle Scout with Troop 92, and a full time high school and college student. He hopes other youth will be encouraged and inspired by his example that they too can do great things.

The Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force which was founded in December 1941. The Civil Air Patrol teaches youth leadership skills, character development, physical training, aerospace education, emergency services, and more. CAP is open to all youth ages 12-18 as well as adults. For more information about being a part of this program visit the Shelby Squadron Facebook page, come for a visit on Tuesday evenings from 6-8:30 at 830 College Avenue, Shelby, NC, or email csvag@bellsouth.net.
