Arlene Landes Kenter, 86, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina passed away April 21, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born October 17, 1936, in Telford, Pennsylvania, to the late Jacob and Florence Rosenberger Landes. Arlene grew up in Telford and was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Richard Kenter in 2018. They raised their children in Escondido, California and retired to Rutherfordton in 1996. Their children joined them in North Carolina and enjoyed time with their mom during her 27 years of retirement. Arlene was also preceded in death by her brothers Charles, Clayton, Richard, Russell, and Ivan Landes and sisters Doris Landes and Esther Getz.

Arlene is survived by her children, Randy Slonaker of Williamsport PA, Robin Sheriff and husband Mark of Shelby, and Richard "Rick" Kenter and wife Christina of Rutherfordton, as well as siblings Mae and husband Frank Schaffer and Gerald Landes. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kris Roark and wife Shrija, Kyle Roark and wife Courtney, and great-grandchildren Jace Roark and Brooks Kenter Roark, along with many nieces and nephews and her dog Willie.
Known for her kindness, great sense of humor, and ability to light up a room, Arlene never met a stranger. She is off to her next adventure.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dianne Russell, Rutherford Lifecare, Life Enrichment Center of Cleveland County, and Hospice Cleveland County for their help. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any of the above organizations. A private service will be held for the family.
