Auley Watson

Auley Watson, age 86, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at her home. Born July 3, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Vernon Montgomery Cantrell and Pansy Lillie Mae Camp Denton. Auley enjoyed all crafts, especially crocheting and knitting. She received top awards from the Texas State Fair for her crafting projects, pear mincemeat and her famous pear butter, a favorite of her grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and really enjoyed watching them in sports and was proud of their accomplishments.

In addition to her parents Auley was preceded in death by her step-father, William J Denton, daughter, Sherry Self Francis, half-sister, Ruby Lee Phillips, step-brother, Eugene Denton, and her great grandson, Kameron Arter.

Auley is survived by her husband of 48 years, Charles Watson of Shelby, her daughter, Terry Self Melton of Shelby, step-son, Robert Lee Watson of Andrews, TX, step-brother, Robert Denton of York, PA, her grandchildren, Mark Melton, Chad Melton and wife Tina, Todd Melton and wife Neely all of Shelby and Misty Arter and husband Nathan of Cherryville, Chad Watson, Robert Watson, Jr., Summer Watson and Heather Watson as well as 14 great-grandchildren, Meltons: Logan, Brock, Bailey, Michael and Matt, Arters: Kaleb and Kaley; and her very special caregivers, Virginia Price and Teresa Walker

Funeral service will be held 6pm Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5pm until 6 pm. Burial will be held at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Seagoville, TX.
