Barbara Downs Biggerstaff, age 79, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Cleveland Pines. Born in Cleveland County on September 18, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Ervin and Helen Ponders Downs. Barbara attended First Baptist Church as a child and visited Eastside Baptist Church in her later years. She retired from Cleveland Pines where she was a housekeeper for a number of years. She loved to play Bingo.

Barbara is survived by her son, Robert Pitchford and wife Shelia of Shelby; two grandchildren, Westley Pitchford and wife Anna, and Gracie Crowder and husband Dylan; a great granddaughter, Stella Crowder; and the staff at Cleveland Pines, whom the family would like to, thank for all the love and care that they extended to Barbara; along with her Hospice nurses.

Memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Dale Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
