Barbara Gail Parsons

Barbara Gail Parsons departed for her heavenly home the morning of November 11, 2019 at Atrium Health Cleveland hospital in Shelby, NC. Mrs. Parsons was born in Taylorsville, NC to the late Wilma Milsaps on June 22, 1952.

Mrs. Parsons became a member of Smith Grove Missionary Baptist church at a young age where she served as a teacher, usher, play director, and as a member of the Smith Grove Church Choir. Mrs. Parsons graduated from Taylorsville High School where she met the love of her life, Dr. Edward Junior Parsons, to whom she was married for forty-four years. Barbara joined her husband in his ministry and together they served their Lord and Savior Jesus Christas Ministers of the Gospel. Mrs. Parsons was a missionary, a Sunday school teacher, and a First Lady. Mrs. Parsons was a self-taught pianist and a gifted, master seamstress.

In addition to her mother, Barbara is preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. Edward Junior Parsons and their daughter Tasha Antoinette Parsons.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons and their families, Eric Devon& (Amy) Parsons of Shelby, NC and Sergeant Major Edward Driko& (Dr.Christina) Parsons of Washington, DC. She had six grandchildren, Erica, Sascha, Alicia, Major, Gunner, and Elizabeth, and two great-granddaughters. Barbara is also survived by her two sisters, Paulette Little of Taylorsville, NC, Linda Knox of Statesville, NC; two brothers, Randy (Elcheva)Speaks of Taylorsville, NC and Bradley Speaks of Taylorsville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
