Barbara Gail Steed Long, 84, of Shelby, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby.

Born in Bibb County, GA on August 10, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Albert Glenn Steed and Hazel Wacter Steed. She was retired from the Shelby Star, AV Wray and Roses and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville. She also served in the US Air Force and received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Gail Sherman and stepson, Carl "Tracy" Cline Long, III.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Carl Cline Long, Jr.; daughter, Lynn Paul and husband Bruce of Shelby and granddaughter, Devyn Montgomery Paul.

A private service will be held at a later date.
