Barbara Jean Padgett

Barbara Jean Padgett, age 90, peacefully passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Peak Resources of Cherryville.

Born in Dearborn, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Joe Marvin Hobbs and Mildred Elizabeth Brooker Hobbs. She is a graduate from Toccoa Falls College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts. She served 20 years as a missionary in Costa Rica with her family and returned to the states in 1977. She proudly served alongside her husband who ministered in South Carolina, Alabama, and North Carolina. After her retirement she lovingly cared for her husband and family. Barbara was a faithful member of Elizabeth Baptist Church of Shelby.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Rev. Clinton Padgett and her brother, James Gordon Hobbs.

Barbara is survived by her three sons; Mark Padgett (Maritza) of San Jose Costa Rica, Nathan Padgett (Ann) of Powell, TN and Doug Padgett (Sharron) of Rensselaer, IN and daughter Sharon Wilson (Bruce) of Shelby, NC. Also left to cherish her memory are seven grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Susan Hobbs.

To honor the life of Barbara Padgett a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Dr. Rit Varriale and Rev. Jim Brackett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service with a burial to follow in the church cemetery.
