Barbara Talbort Toney, age 81, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Caromont Regional in Gastonia.

Born in Union County on August 9, 1939 she was the daughter of the late James Otto and Vivian Louise Caudle Talbort. She was of the Baptist faith. Barbara was a former clerk for Witherspoon Insurance. She received awards for her volunteer work through the American Red Cross. Barbara was an avid quilter. In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Toney; and a grandson, Casey Woods;

Barbara is survived by two sons, David Champion and wife Phyllis of Shelby and Fred Champion of Rocky Point NC; a daughter, Laura Tallent of Shelby; three step daughters, Gail Woods of Waco, Kay Bowen and husband Randy of Boiling Springs, Cynthia Collins and husband Jeff of Boiling Springs; a sister, Glenda T. Sandlin and husband Harry of Charlotte; and 9 Grandchildren.

A private service was held by the family.
