Barry "Horty" Wilson McKee, 59, of Fallston Waco Road, Lawndale, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024.

Born in Cleveland County, on October 12, 1964, he was a son of the late Plato Glenn McKee and Janice Wilson McKee. Horty was a former agriculture teacher for Shelby High School and East Lincoln High School. For the last twenty years he was the owner operator of Horty's Auction House and Mercantile, as well as Barry McKee Plants and Produce Sales in Fallston and he was also an auctioneer.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Barrier McKee; son Granger McKee and wife Hanna of Lawndale; daughter, Miriam McKee of Lawndale; three brothers, Dennis McKee of Lawndale, Jerry McKee of Morganton, and Randy McKee of Lawndale; and a sister, Mary McKee.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 12:30 pm at Christian Fellowship Church, 2951 Philadelphia Rd, Lawndale, NC 28090.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cleveland County Animal Shelter, 1601 Airport Rd, Shelby, NC 28150 or to U-Can Food Pantry, 230 E Main St, Lawndale, NC 28090.
