BBQ luncheon to benefit new emergency shelter

Cleveland County Rescue Mission announced it will host a BBQ Luncheon & Drop-In Open House on Sunday, September 20th from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church in Shelby, NC (300 N. Lafayette St.). Cost for meal tickets is $10 per person and all proceeds will be used to put the finishing touches on the new Heart 2 Heart Place, an emergency shelter for women and children. Heart 2 Heart Place is part of the women's division of CCRM and will provide food, shelter, medical assistance, and a renewed sense of self-worth for many of Cleveland County's homeless women and children. The event will feature private tours of the renovated facility at 301 N. Washington St. with lunch catered by Wayne Bridges BBQ.
CCRM Executive Director, Michael Gullatte said "We've had an overwhelming demand from homeless women and women with children seeking emergency and/or temporary shelter. We currently have a waiting list. Our plans are to work closely with the Abuse Prevention Council to refer women who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault that should come to us." Our mission at CCRM is "Helping people find peace and provision." CCRM offers Christ-centered addiction recovery programs. We provide an array of educational classes. These classes include personal finance, GED, job skill training, theology, healthy living, volunteer work program, basic life skills, and vocational training. These programs help residents gain employment, further their education, build self-confidence, and transition them to more stable or permanent housing.
