Beatrice Collins Stroupe, 100, of Indian Land, SC, passed away on May 19,2024.

Bea was born on January 25, 1924 in the Bronx, NY and grew up in Bellerose, NY under the loving care of her parents Arthur and Evelyn Vasseur Odell.

She married her sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Collins in 1946 and together they raised seven children. Bea had a variety of secretarial jobs throughout her life, but her pride and joy was being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was talented artistically and enjoyed many hobbies and interests including arts and crafts, sewing, gardening, cooking and home décor. In 1971 the family moved from West Islip, NY to Shelby, NC with two cats and a dog in tow.

As a devout Catholic, Bea took her faith seriously and was an active member of several parishes throughout her life, most recently St. Philip Neri in Fort Mill, SC. In February 1984 her beloved Bob entered eternal life at the young age of 60. Bea was blessed to find love again and married Ernest Stroupe in December 1985 with whom she enjoyed retired life, travel and companionship until he passed away in 2010. Bea had the gift of gab, was very out-going and was loved by all she met. She treasured her many friends and was grateful for their care and support.

Bea is predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Robert, her second husband, Ernest, her step-daughter, Brenda Smith and her sister, Evelyn Marie Reynolds.

She is survived by her children, Paul Collins (Marcia) of Charlotte, Fr. Jim Collins of Newton, Peggy Collins of Boiling Springs, Joan Garrison (Craig) of Kings Mountain, Ed Collins (Sara) of Mooresville, Darby Fitzpatrick (Jim) of Front Royal, VA, Brian Collins (Angela) of Albemarle, 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren (plus three on the way), her sister-in-law, Carol Collins Beuschel of Naples, FL and several nieces and nephews.
