Beginning The New Year With Prayer And Services
Kenneth MacCallum from Travelers Rest, N. C. plays bagpipe.
The 11th annual “A Service Of Worship” at Shelby’s Presbyterian Church on New Year’s Eve began at 7 p.m. outside on the church grounds. While the parishioners braved the cold and held luminaries, the traditional sounds of a Scottish bagpiper performed. In Scotland, December 31st is known as Hogmanay. Afterwards, attendees went inside the church to begin services. Following the service, everyone was invited into Ellis Hall for Scottish country dancing and refreshments. It was a wonderful way for many to begin the New Year.
