Belinda Rhew Martin
Belinda Rhew Martin, age 59 of Sunbeam Farm Rd. passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at her childhood home. She was born July 12, 1958 in Buncombe County to the late William and Wilma Silver Rhew. Belinda was a member of Anthony Grove Baptist Church. She graduated from Cherryville High School, was a retired manager of Cedar St. Tavern, and Vice President of Diversified Fiberglass Fabricators. She was on the Board of Directors for Cherryville Little Theater and directed numerous plays. Belinda was very much a people person and she really enjoyed getting into trouble and having fun with her lifelong friends. She enjoyed Bingo nights at the Country Club. Belinda was always involved in whatever her children or grandchildren were doing. She was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader, Odyssey of the Minds Coach, and Cherryville Optimist Dance Coach. She loved attending t-ball and soccer games and watching cheerleading as the most devoted Mimi to her grandbabies.
She is survived by her daughters, Natasha Alexander and husband, Bryce and Ashley Lackey and husband ,Wes; grandchildren, Sierra Alexander and Mason Lackey; brother, Bill Rhew and wife, Leslie and their children, Bill Rhew, III (Brandi), Lauren Frontiera (Josh), and Alex Rhew; aunts and uncles, Edna Smith, Jimmy Rhew (Claudine), Gladys Dyer (Bob), Frank Silver (Sarah), and Mike Silver (Vickey); and numerous cousins, friends, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 28, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Anthony Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Faulkenbury officiating. Burial will be private.
A celebration of Belinda's life will also be held Friday, beginning from 1:30 to 3:30 PM at Cherryville County Club.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at 133 Suncrest Rd. in Cherryville.
