Vale - Rev. Benjamin "Ben" Draughon Ramsaur, 70, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Somerset Court in Cherryville.

Ben was born on November 28, 1949 in Mecklenburg County, NC a son of the late Dr. Jackson Townsend Ramsaur and Lucille Byrd Ramsaur. He was retired after 28 years from Caswell Developmental Center in Kinston serving as a Chaplain and Music Therapist. Ben was a member of North Brook Baptist Church in Cherryville. He received a Masters degree from East Carolina University in Special Education and also received a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and an undergraduate in Music Therapy and Music Education. Ben was a Special Education teacher who was instrumental in starting Happiness Retreat Baptist Camp for people with disabilities and was director of the Baptist group home for ladies with disabilities in Asheboro. He was a former choir director at First Missionary Baptist Church of LeGrange and former pastor at Seagrove Baptist Church. Ben was an accomplished musician, composer, vocalist and he played piano, guitar and banjo. He was a member of the contemporary Christian band Walking by Faith.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Amy Thornburg Ramsaur of the home; daughter, Alison R. Wright and husband Dustin of Vale; son Benjamin C. Ramsaur and wife Jennifer of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Josiah, Lydia and Micah Ramsaur; Addison, Gabrielle and Sarah Grace Wright and brother Dixon Ramsaur of Mt. Holly.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, November 16, 2020 at North Brook Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Wise and Dr. Mark Creech officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends following the graveside service.
