Bertha Cooper

Bertha Cooper, age 103 passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at her home. Born in Rutherford County on December 10, 1915, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Lettie Jane Johnson Curtis. Bertha was the oldest member of Lattimore Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery for 25 years. In addition to her parents, Bertha is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Woodrow Cooper; a son-in-law, Troy Bright; four brothers, Dewey, John, Everette, and Don Curtis; and three sisters, Etta Robbins, Mary Jenkins, and Hattie White.

Bertha is survived by her daughter, Myrldean Roper and special friend Leon Allison of Lattimore; a son, Phil Cooper and wife Barbara of Shelby; granddaughter, Veronica Poole- Adams and husband Daren, Tracie Cooper and special friend Scott Shakeshaft, Angie Causby and husband Trent, Nikki Thomas, Crystal Burgess and husband Brian; and great grandchildren, Jesse Putnam, Stephanie Putnam, Austin Causby, Ryan Malcolm, Ciera Thomas, Morgan Henson, and Brandon Hawkins

Bertha was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a gentle soul who loved and prayed for her family every day. We know she is walking the golden streets in Heaven with her Lord. Her family and friends will certainly feel the loss of her presence here on earth

Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 11:00 am at Lattimore Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Wall and Rev Court Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the Family Life Building, and other times at the home.

The family would like to thank Bertha's caregivers, Roberta Alexander, Tammy Smith, Gail Hollifield and a special thanks to Joanie Mabry of Hospice.
