SHELBY- Ms. Betty Jean Hopper, 50, of 928 A. Pleasant Drive, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was born October 2, 1962, daughter of the late Ernest and Marjorie Allen Hopper. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she was a member of North Lafayette Baptist Church in Shelby.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Bobby Dean Hopper.

SURVIVED: She is survived by two daughters, Michelle Philbeck, Charity Thomas and husband Aaron all of Shelby; two sisters, Linda Kidd of Shelby, Lisa Tesseneer and husband Homer of Mooresboro; three brothers, Jerry Hopper of Shelby, Steve Hopper and wife Angie of Fallston, and Daniel Hopper of Butner, NC; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Shauna, Noah, and Jacob; and former son-in-law, Shaun Deyton of Caroleen.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held Saturday, 2:00 pm at Unity Baptist Church in Shelby.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at the church on Saturday before the service.

CLERGY: Rev. Chris Little will be officiating.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
