Cherryville - Mrs. Betty Jean Saine Barrett, 84, of S. Pink Street, passed
away on Monday, February 2, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center - Mercy in
Charlotte.

Betty was born in Gaston County, NC on July 7, 1932 a daughter of the late
Ellis Saine and Mallie Hallman Saine. She was co-owner of Vest Inc. in
Fallston and also worked at Anvil Knitwear in Kings Mountain and Kerr Drug
in Cherryville. Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church in
Cherryville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, D.J.
Barrett, Jr.; two sisters, Doris Ann Saine and Angelita Payseur.

Survivors include her two sons, Bruce Barrett and wife Chris of Cherryville;
Jerry Barrett of Hickory; a brother Don and wife Mary Fenton Saine; six
grandchildren, Colby, Shane and Brandon Barrett, Paige Rowe, Derek Barrett
and Stephanie Barrett Carswell; six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews,
Donna Kelton; Elizabeth Mosher and husband Cliff; Mickey Payseur and wife
Debbie; special friends, Claudine Brooks and Kat Sigmon and her special
neighbors, O.C. and Dean Parker and her special caregiver, Wendy Barrett.

Visitation will be on from 1:30 to 2:45PM on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at
First United Methodist Church and at other times the family will be at the
home of her son, Bruce Barrett.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, January 2, 2017 at
First United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Collins, D.Min. and Rev. Leonard
Bumgardner officiating.

Burial will be at City Memorial Cemetery.
