Billy Donald Pearson

Billy Donald Pearson, a cherished member of the Shelby, North Carolina community, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at the Wendover Hospice House in Shelby. Born on October 29, 1936, in his lifelong hometown of Shelby, Mr. Pearson lived a life marked by dedication, faith, and steadfast commitment to family and community.
For over fifty years, Billy Donald Pearson proudly owned and operated Flint Hill Textiles, contributing significantly to the local economy and forging strong bonds within the business community. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a man who deeply treasured his roots and simple pleasures--farming, riding his tractor, and most importantly, spending time with his beloved family and friends.
Mr. Pearson's personal life was enriched by his profound faith and his role as a faithful member of Flint Hill Baptist Church, where he found solace and strength throughout his life. Among his proudest achievements was his marriage of 70 years to his devoted wife, Elaine Humphries Pearson, a testament to a lifetime of love and partnership.
Billy Donald Pearson is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, and their children: a son Steve Pearson and his wife Angie, two daughters Jennifer Wess and her husband Brian, and Kim Costner and her husband Keith, all of Shelby, North Carolina. He was a proud grandfather to Asheli Pearson, Emma Staneart and her husband Nate, Lexi Costner, and Logan Costner. His legacy also continues through his great-grandchildren, Anzlee Stroup, Lane Stroup, Cayden Stroup, Jordyn Humphries, Jagger Humphries, Brayden Staneart, Karstyn Staneart, and Morgan Staneart, who all share fond memories of their beloved great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Pearson and his siblings: Obie Pearson, Gerald Pearson, Danny Pearson, Irvin Pearson, Thelma Barnette, Betty Jean Cochran, and Doris Bright.
A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Friday, June 19, 2026, at Flint Hill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Keith Dixon and Rev. Shane Kirby. A visitation will be held from 12:00pm - 1:00pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Billy Donald Pearson's life was one of steadfast dedication--to his work, his faith, and his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will remain treasured in the hearts of those he loved and served throughout his remarkable life.
