Billy James Greene, 84, passed away Saturday September 7, 2024 at Wendover Hospice of Shelby NC.

Born in Spartanburg, SC on September 8, 1939 the son of the late Richard R. Greene and Leona McAbee Greene. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Greene, daughter Billy Teressa Greene.

Billy retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of honorable and faithful service. He will be remembered for his love for family, his country, and a deep passion for NASCAR racing.

Billy is survived by his wife of 63 years Eloise Pearson Greene, a sister Winnie Lovelace (Charles), brother Richard Greene (Becky), Kathy Harris (Eddie). Also left to cherish his memory are loving nieces, Maria Hamrick, Jessica Rich (Darrell), Starr Hamrick, Ellie Rich, Stephanie Quinn (Billy), Denise Greene and loving nephews Randy Blanton (Andrea), Noah Smith, Shaun Lawrence, Michael Greene, Chad Greene (Stephanie) and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ed and Helen Pearson. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Flint Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Kirby and Pastor Keith Dixon officiating. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery.
