| Billy Odell Blanton, age 80, went to be with the Lord Wednesday April 3, 2013 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. Born in Lincoln County on October 14, 2013 he was the son of the late Charles Pryor and Bertha Pruett Blanton. He served in the U.S. Army, serving one year in Korea. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Blanton Rogers, and Arzie Blanton Rogers; two half-sisters, Sue Turner Barkley and Janie Turner Morrison; and a granddaughter, Melea Ann Davis.
Mr. Blanton is survived by his wife, Shannon Mauney Blanton; a daughter, Beth Blanton Godfrey and husband Erie; a brother, Jimmy Blanton Sr. ; his beloved grandchildren, Mandi Davis Baker and husband Drew, Justin Davis and Logan Davis; Great Grandchildren, Weston Baker, Carson Davis and Nolan Baker; two step grandchildren, Sarah Godfrey Lynn and husband Cory, and Leanna Godfrey Vance and husband Aaron; three step great grandchildren, Tanner and Hailey Vance and Ezra Lynn.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday April 8, 2013 at 12:00pm at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Timothy Sims and J. M. Ezell officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00pm an hour before the service, and other times at the home. Burial will follow the service in Cleveland Memorial Park.
