Bobby Dean Smith, age 82, of Shelby, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Atrium Health Cleveland Hospital. Born on July 31, 1942, in Cleveland County, Bobby was the son of the late Ruth Blair Smith Crilley. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Carolyn Hamilton Smith, and his brother, Gary Smith.

A devoted member of New Salem Church in Shelby, Bobby lived a life filled with family, faith, and service. He found joy in listening to oldies music, watching Hallmark movies, and spending time with his friends at the Ham Radio Club. A proud and lifelong member of Cleveland Masonic Lodge #202 AF & AM, Bobby served as a Past Master Mason and a devoted member of Oasis Shrine Club and Piedmont Shrine Club. He was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, with over 50 years of dedicated service.

Bobby is survived by his loving family: his daughter and devoted caregiver, Tanya Smith (Dennis); his son, Alan Smith; his grandchildren, Aaron Mundy (Liz) and Billie McGinnis; and his great-grandson, Jamie Lankford. He is also fondly remembered by his sister Sue Urmy (Ron) of Guy, Arkansas, sister-in-law, Judy Smith, and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

A graveside service with Masonic rites will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Cleveland Memorial Park.
