Bobby Gene Wells

Bobby Gene Wells, 89, of Polkville Rd. in Shelby, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center , Gastonia .

Born in Cleveland County on April 30, 1932, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Wells and Sally Kendrick Wells. He was retired from Fiber Industries and Cleveland Community College and was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. He also served in the US Army and was a charter member of Polkville Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served for fifty years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lillie Marie Clark Wells; two brothers, Thomas Wells and Grady Wells and one sister, Ethel Putnam.

Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Whisnant and husband Steve and Carol Morrison and husband Johnnie all of Polkville; brother, Billy Wells of Spindale; four grandchildren, Stefanie Whisnant and husband Roger Whitesides, Adam Whisnant and significant other Ashley Saine, Melissa McNeilly and husband Nathan and Jessie Navia and husband Andrew; three great grandchildren, Reagan McNeilly, Nolan McNeilly and Lily Navia.

The Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Polkville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Scott and Rev. Ken Gibson officiating. Military graveside rites will be provided by Fallston American Legion Post 527 and the Polkville Volunteer Fire Dept. will be ringing the bell at the graveside.
