Bobby Lee Lane

Bobby Lee Lane, 94, died Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Hospice at Wendover.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Claude and Carrie Hutchins Lane. Bobby served in the Army, and played professional baseball for the Cardinals organization. He retired from Celanese and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He coached and umpired various different sporting events, and was an avid Shelby sports fan and Duke Basketball fan. He worked many years as a scout for the Kansas City Royals and was inducted into the Cleveland County Hall of Fame.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by her loving wife of 69 years, Barbara Graham Lane; and brothers, Paul, Tite, Jack "Cookie" and Jimmy Lane.

He is survived by his sons, Larry Lane and wife Heather and Rocky Lane and wife Sheila, both of Shelby; grandsons, Rock Lane and wife Mandy and Patrick and Preston Lane; great granddaughter, Gimma Lane; and daughter-in-law, Laurel Lane of Shelby. Funeral services will be held 2pm, Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2pm, prior to the service, in the church. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Par. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County or Eastside Baptist Church.
