Bobby Olon Towery, 85, of Lawndale passed away after a long period of declining health on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Life Care Center of Banner Elk.

Bobby was born on March 27, 1940, in Burke County and was a son to the late Otis Lee Towery and Zela Marie Chapman Towery. He was retired from Broughton Hospital and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Bobby served in the US Navy and enjoyed telling stories of flying over Cuba and other activites while in service. He truly enjoyed traveling with his wife and had a passion for farming.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Charlene Bradshaw Towery; a brother, Charlie Towery and wife Carolyn; a brother-in-law, Johnny Shimpock; and a niece, Marisa Harmon.

He is survived by a sister Mozelle Shimpock of Connelly Springs; a nephew Brian Towery of Connelly Springs; a niece, Michelle Towery Lail and husband Curtis of Lawndale; and special cousins Dale and Kelly Carter of Lawndale.

The family would also like to thank the staff at the Life Care Center of Banner Elk and Avery County Hospice for the care they provided to Bobby.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at Zion Hill Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM, Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Allan Barlow officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
