Bonnie Lee Conner Collins
Bonnie Lee Conner Collins, 93, of Blacksburg, went to be with her Lord, her husband, and her only son on Friday, November 18, 2016.
Born in Cleveland County, NC, our Granny was the daughter of Rev. Charles Pickney Conner and Florence Morrison Conner. Granny's life-long sweetheart of 54 years, Jack Collins, her son whom she adored, Jackie Leon Collins, and an infant son passed before her and completely broke her heart. Also, waiting on her in Heaven were 6 sisters, Pearl Bates, Ethel Neal, Eunice Lovelace, Bertha Blalock, Ada Conner, Betty Bolin and 6 brothers Gene Conner, Clyde Conner, Fred Conner, Johnny Conner, Ernest Conner, and Bill Conner.
Granny Collins attended Hopewell Baptist Church in Blacksburg. Our Granny will always be remembered as the best cook in the entire world. During her childhood she was allowed to stay inside and cook for her brothers and sisters who worked on their farm. Granny also worked in a cotton mill in Grover for a short time and worked in the school cafeteria when needed. Granny will always be remembered for her love of singing gospel hymns, her love of cooking for her big family, and her everlasting unconditional love for her entire family.
Granny leaves her legacy of love to her 6 Grandchildren, Joshua Taylor Collins and wife Denise, Jill Collins Beam and husband Randy, Janie Collins Allen and husband Chris, Jenny Collins Stroupe and husband Dennis, Joy Collins Thayer and husband Frank, and Julie Collins Atkinson and husband Jerry; 21 Great Grandchildren (who know her as YaYa)- Heather Collins, Hannah Waddell, J.J. Also, our family's lifelong friend Bud Killian who has always been so precious to us all. Granny took with her to Heaven her famous biscuit recipe- which none of us could ever perfect!
A celebration of her wonderful life will be Monday, Nov. 21 at 3p.m. with an hour of visitation beginning at 2p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church in Blacksburg. The service will be conducted by Rev.
