Bonnie Leigh Worley Poteat, 72, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Hospice Wendover in Shelby, NC.

Born in Danville, VA, on October 13, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Pete Worley and Shirley Randolph. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Franklin Poteat, and her brother, Jimmy Fox.

Bonnie was a devoted grandmother, lovingly known as "Mimi" to her grandsons, and deeply cherished by her family. She was known for her generosity and her constant willingness to lend a helping hand to family and friends alike. Bonnie faced every challenge with strength and resilience, overcoming each with unwavering faith. Above all, she wished to inspire others with the importance of a strong spiritual connection to her Lord and Savior.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Amy Poteat Kendrick (Joe); her two grandchildren, Benjamin and Elijah Kendrick; and her two sisters, Dee Parrish, Barbie Davis and brother Bobby Penny.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on November 14, 2024, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Derek Greene. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
