Bossie Jackson, Jr.

Bossie Jackson, Jr. was born on August 23, 1926 to the late Bossie Jackson, Sr. and the late Ethel Lee Parish Jackson in Newark, NJ. He entered into eternal life on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the home of his son in Grove Town, GA.

Mr. Jackson was a graduate of South Side High School in Newark and was a 1951 graduate of Lincoln University in PA. While there, he joined the Omega Psi Phi Inc. Fraternity. Before entering college, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served overseas during WW II as a courier.

Upon his graduation from college, Mr. Jackson, he began his career as a chemist with Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, NJ. His illustrious career lasted over 40 years before his retirement in 1996. During his tenure there, his brilliance in scientific development led him to receive two patents for his work.

Mr. Jackson was married on December 25, 1953 to the late Rosalie Fowlkes Jackson and from their union three children were born, Patrice, Philip and Paula. After her death in 1965, he remarried Doris Middlebrooks Jackson in 1967 and they were married 52 years until her death in 2019. While living in Newark, Mr. Jackson was a member of Clinton Ave. Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and served as a steward. Upon moving to Shelby, North Carolina in 1999 with Doris who was originally from the area, he joined Ryburn Memorial Presbyterian Church in Shelby.

A man of great dignity and culture, Mr. Jackson enjoyed listening to classical music and teaching others to waltz. He enjoyed bowling, playing Scrabble, Pinochle and Bridge and is listed on the National Roster for Bridge. He will be remembered as a true Renaissance man.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Fowlkes Jackson; his wife, Doris Ellice Middlebrooks Jackson and his brother, Harold Jackson.

He is survived by daughters, Patrice Jackson and Paula Jackson Jones both of Spartanburg, SC; his son, Philip Jackson (Beverly Davis Jackson) of Grove Town, GA; and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

The service for Mr. Jackson will be private.The service will be livestreamed on Facebook starting at 10:55 AM on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloemortuary.com. Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
