Boyd Allen Wall

Boyd Allen Wall, 68, died Sunday June 27, 2021 at Atrium Health Cleveland.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Boyd and Gladys Wall. Allen worked for Overnite/UPS Freight in Gaffney for 39 years until his retirement. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Myron, his forever Golden Lion friends Dennis Elliott and Mike Huntsinger, and his grandpup Iggy.

Allen is survived by his wife of 45 amazing years, Suzanne Ross Wall of the home; sons Michael Wall of Shelby, Adam Wall and wife Jennifer of Shelby; sister-in-law Angela and husband Dr. Richard Morton of Cleveland, Ohio; his niece Emily Boller and husband Nick of Mansfield, Ohio, and nephew Matthew Morton and wife Lindsay of Parma, Ohio, his cousin Julie Stroupe of Cherryville, and his Rutherford county cousins; his 2 great nieces and 3 great nephews.

Allen was a devout and faithful Christian and member of El Bethel United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain and he loved telling people about his miracle five years ago when he survived a massive heart attack. When he wasn't spending time with his family, he was often found on the Putt Putt course with the countless friends he made throughout his professional Putt Putt and Mini-Golf career. Allen was the 2012 North Carolina State Putting Champion.

Allen loved all of his friends and family and wore his heart on his sleeve. His friends described him as a kind and sweet man with a huge heart that was always nice to everyone he met. He loved his wife Susie with all of his heart, often calling her his "hero" in the years after his heart attack for the way she took care of him in these final years. Allen was very proud of both of his sons and their accomplishments.

Allen graduated from Shelby High School in 1971 and was regularly seen in the stands pulling for his Golden Lions every season with his friends Mike Huntsinger and Alan Curtis. Allen also was an avid fisherman on annual trips with his family each year on the Cherry Grove Pier.

Allen was a big football fan, pulling for the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Green Bay Packers. He also really loved to golf and is currently teeing up on the heavenly golf course with his buddies Dennis and Mike. The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Friday, July 2, 2021 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1pm, Saturday, July 3, 2021 at El Bethel U.M.C., with the Rev.
