Boys & Girls Club Of Cleveland County Honors All Those That "Make It Happen
Ann & Ray Hurley with Jack Weller
Members, guests, and honorees gathered for the annual awards banquet of the Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland County, on Friday evening at the Parish Hall of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. It was a special time for special people, those who volunteer and commit themselves to give every boy and girl a better life.
The Officers and Board of Directors did an outstanding job in making sure that all were recognized and presented with a plaque denoting their efforts. Whatever volunteers contribute to the program is very important, for it is seen as building blocks for a child’s future. The club’s new slogan is: "Great Futures Start Here".
The function is always memorable. The awards banquet showcases just how important members of the community consider the Boys & Girls Club. They give of themselves unselfishly and what they accomplish is verified by the continued success of their efforts. Just ask any youngster in Cleveland County who has experienced their help, guidance and motivation.

The big surprise of the evening came when the Annual Honor Day Camper Award was changed and named in honor of Ray Hurley, who has been the Director of the Boys & Girls Club for approximately 29 years. The award has been renamed to “The Ray Hurley Honor Day Camper Award”.
