Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland County hosting Murder Mystery at Don Gibson Theatre

Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland County (BGCCC) will host a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater on Saturday, March 23, at the Don Gibson Theatre, S Washington Street, Shelby. The event will start with a social at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. provided by 133 West, Kings Mountain. The excitement of solving the mystery will begin at 7 p.m.

This spring's Murder Mystery theme will be a Gnarly 90s Murder Mystery at the Mall. The Murder Mystery involves the death of someone at the Mall. Join with your friends and work through the clues and suspects. Tickets are $35 per person, and a table of eight is $280. Tickets may be gotten at the Club, Don Gibson Theatre, or https://bgccleveco.salsalabs.org/Spring2024MurderMystery

The Murder Mystery fundraisers have been the project of Board President Susan Allen with the Club. "It is an enjoyable evening. People have a good meal and then try to solve the mystery with audience members participating as suspects. People get into their roles, and it is fun to see how people work to solve the mystery as all of the clues come together. As part of past Mur-der Mysteries, participants came dressed as wedding guests, golfers, or guests at an ugly Christmas sweater party. What will your '90s outfit be for this Murder Mystery?

The Murder Mystery events have raised funds to support summer outdoor experiences for children. Club kids who participate in the Jack & Ruth Schweppe Summer Day Camps at the Main Club, the Casar and Springmore Clubs, and the Mable Hamrick-Whisnant Teen Center learn about the outdoors as they are focused on farm life at the SonRidge Farm Camp or try hiking the trails in Crowders Mountain or South Mountain State Parks, or canoeing on the Broad River.

At the SonRidge Farm Camp, children explore life on a farm by interacting with
animals, making a pizza with

goat cheese, or participating in a goat show. The students work on their writing skills as they write daily blogs to record the events and experiences of the day. One child wrote in her blog, "This is so much fun. I want to live on a farm!"

Josh Propst, executive director of BGCCC, shared, "This year, we expanded our summer camps to four sites and will serve over 200 children. We aim to instill a love for nature, foster an understanding of food sources, and cultivate a sense of adventure in the great outdoors. Witnessing children interact with baby goats or sing songs while trekking through nature trails, or enjoying time on the Broad River reaffirms the importance of our fundraising efforts."

If you are not able to attend the Murder Mystery and want to support these outdoor experiences, make a donation to the BGCCC for a tank of gas for one of the vans, or to buy a snack as they return from their field trips. You may donate by using the Club's website.
