Brenda Ann Willis McDonald

Brenda Ann Willis McDonald, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Monday, September 1st, leaving behind a legacy of love, care, and devotion.

Born to Pauline Willa Blanton Willis and Boyd Robert Willis, Brenda was predeceased by her parents and three siblings Donald Willis, David Willis (Shirley Jones Willis), Carolyn Willis Bridges Owens (Larry Owens), and by her beloved husband, rock, and protector, David Bruce McDonald, with whom she shared a life of enduring love, travel adventures, and partnership.

Brenda is survived by her four daughters, Dawn Muller (Ron Muller), Deidre Kiser (Ben Kiser), Dara McDonald, and Danielle Kwasnik (Andre Kwasnik). She will be forever cherished by her seven grandchildren, Carly Slesarev (Evgeny Slesarev), Haley Muller, Julia Darden (Helen Darden), Sydney Kiser (Charles Reid Lindsay III), Alexis Kwasnik, Ethan Muller, and Dylan Kwasnik, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Paulina and Stefan Slesarev, and Wolfgang Lindsay. She is also survived by many nieces, along with their spouses and families, who cared about her. To her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she was not just a mom and grandmother, but "Grandma Brenda," "Mama Brenda," "Mama B," "Brenders," and "G.G." She cared fiercely and gave unwavering support to all her loved ones.

A proud majorette at Wake Forest and cheerleader at Gardner-Webb College, Brenda went on to study radiology and became a Radiography Technologist. Her commitment to health and well-being extended beyond her profession; she was a Shaklee distributor for over 50 years, always advocating for healthy living.

Brenda embodied devotion and resilience, especially in her role as caregiver to her husband, Dave, after his stroke in 2006. Her strength was matched by her sharp intelligence and endless curiosity--she loved a good challenge, especially when it came to getting the final clue on Jeopardy! Her family will remember her as a woman of great strength, whose deepest pride and joy was her family. She loved all things Disney and marching band music, and watching Joel Osteen Sunday sermons, but above all, her most steadfast and enduring love was for those closest to her.

A Celebration of Brenda's Life will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the service.
