Brenda Irene Clary, age 74, passed away on January 24, 2022.

A resident of Cleveland County, she was born in Shelby February 7, 1947. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelda Hendrick, father Pratt Street, and her sisters Margaret Kirkland and Rebecca Holmes. Brenda is survived by her daughter, Kim Humphries (Scott) of Ridgeway, SC and two granddaughters, Lacey Humphries of Lexington, SC and Logan Humphries of Atlanta, Ga. She is also survived by her niece, Lori McKee (Mark) and their two sons Grayson and Bryson McKee of Shelby and nephew Greg Cook of Oregon and his son Christopher Cook.

She graduated High School from Number Three and completed college at Cleveland Community College. Brenda retired from the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and spent her time after retirement enjoying her family and her favorite loves. Hobbies included shag dancing, gardening, birding, traveling, camping and nature. Her love for the outdoors started at a young age and was shared by her grandfather and fueled her passion of birding, flower gardening and nature. Any visitor to her yard could enjoy the bluebirds and owls as they flew about feeding their young. Her talent at taking her own flowers from her yard and making a beautiful arrangement to share brought many smiles to family and friends. She spent summers in the Grand Tetons and Wyoming. Traveling and capturing by camera the beauty of the wildlife and nature that surrounded her. She never met a stranger in her travels and would often guide other visitors to the "best views" or "animal sightings". Brenda shared her experiences with her grandchildren by taking them on trips to Niagara Falls and the Grand Tetons.

The family would like to thank all of our family, friends, coworkers and church members who have sent flowers for her enjoyment, cards, calls, and continuous prayers during her illness. Thank you also to Agape Hospice.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday February 5, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory with Priscilla Walker, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

The family requests that Covid guidelines are followed including masks and social distancing.
