Brenda Kay Auton Chumley

Brenda Kay Auton Chumley, 74, was cured of her ailments by the Great Physician on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Hospice at Wendover.

Born on December 30, 1949, to the late Paul and Geraldine Auton of Shelby, NC. She was a native to Shelby and graduated from Shelby High School. Brenda was a beautician by trade; however, she thoroughly enjoyed retirement, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby.

Brenda's life was a testament to the power of prayer and a strong family bond. She believed in taking care of those who take care of you, standing up for yourself, and sticking to your principles. She never cared when the odds were stacked against her; she defied them in her health, work, and personal life.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Mike Chumley; their only child, Michael Chumley; her brother, Johnny Auton; her great aunt, Pat Blanton; and several cousins and friends who were considered family.

May she never be forgotten, for she left a lasting impression on those she interacted with and a permanent mark on her family.

A graveside service will be held February 14, 2024, 2 o'clock in the afternoon, at Sunset Cemetery, with Dr. Tim Sims offering words of encouragement for those in attendance, the family will greet guest following the service.
