Buddy Hobbs

Buddy Hobbs of Shelby, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2022 at the age of 63.

Born in Chapel Hill on June 17th, 1959, Buddy was a native of Cleveland County and the son of Lewis Lyndon Hobbs III, "Lyn," and Helen Stephenson Hobbs. Buddy graduated from University of South Carolina in 1983 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in Marketing.

He was totally devoted to his family; and in return, was greatly loved by all family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Lewis Lyndon Hobbs III and Helen Hobbs Davis. He is survived by his wife Kesha Anthony Hobbs, children Lewis Lyndon Hobbs V and fiancée Callie Fearrington, Patrick Anthony Hobbs, and Alesha Lane Hobbs. He is also survived by sisters, Margret Hobbs Collins, her husband Ray and son Michael, of Winston Salem, and Gretchen Hobbs Donaldson and son Cameron, of Pittsboro.

Buddy had a long and distinguished career in equipment and machine sales and services. His most recent position was Outside Salesman with Midlands Specialty LLC based in Orangeburg, SC. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and starting several businesses including Carolina Corrugated Pallets, Bulldog Storage among others.

He had a passion for fishing in oceans, rivers, and lakes, particularly with his boys, Lewis and Patrick. He was an avid fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Buddy had a friendly disposition, greeting everyone with a smile, and love in his heart. He was a central life force for the Hobbs family, and his enthusiastic spirit will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory on Sunday November, 27th at 2:00PM with receiving of friends to follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made payable to the Jonathan Peeler Memorial Scholarship Fund and mailed to the Shelby Elks Lodge, 1342 Spake Circle, Shelby, NC 28150.
