Burns FFA Benefit BBQ February 22, 2014
Burns FFA is planning another trip to Malawi Africa this summer - July 20- Aug 3.  We are raising funds by hosting a BBQ on Saturday Feb 22, 2014 at Burns High School from 4-7pm.  We have to-go plates and dine-in meals for only $9.

We are calling it the Burns ISEE Project (International Sustainable Extension Experience).  The Burns ISEE Project will take Burns High School students around the world to Malawi, Africa where they will conduct agricultural extension activities to train and teach orphans to grow food that can support themselves and their community. The ISEE Project has enormous potential to impact lives both here and abroad. There are several key components to this project.  First we plan to train Burns high school students for this third world country experience through workshops this summer to assist in language, customs, and expectations while there.  These pre-trip activities will prepare students to make an impact as well as train them to share this experience when they return.  The second component is when Burns High students will travel to Africa and conduct many different activities to strengthen the local peoples.  These activities include: installing drip irrigation, cattle husbandry, maintenance of buildings, and planting of macadamia nut trees.  Furthermore we will be conducting various activities like field days and other projects for orphans on the Grace Farm Orphanage where we will be staying.

We are willing to come and speak to community groups and churches about this opportunity to gain more support. Contact Burns Ag Instructor Luke Beam for information 704-472-9344
