Byron Howard Hendrick

Byron Howard Hendrick, 72, passed away peacefully at home on March 5th, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Byron was born in Shelby, North Carolina to the late Mal and Wanda Hendrick. He was preceded in death by his brother Robin Hendrick.

Byron graduated from Shelby High School and attended Western Carolina University and Gardner-Webb University. Byron and his brother Robin founded Hendrick Appliance in 1976, building a successful business together. Later, they expanded their ventures into commercial real estate, establishing Hendricks LLC. Byron's dedication and work ethic left a lasting impact on those who worked with him and his family. He was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church where over the years he served in various capacities. Beyond his professional achievements, Byron found joy in golfing and cherished the opportunity to play a round with all three of his grandchildren. After retiring to North Myrtle Beach, he enjoyed a more relaxed pace of life and took up fishing, earning a reputation as "The Fish Whisperer" alongside his fishing buddy Stan Wright.

Byron is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sheila Murray Hendrick; daughter Crystal Hendrick Bryson and husband Chuck, son Eric Byron Hendrick and wife Laurie; and three grandchildren Caroline Elizabeth Bryson, Blake Dalton Hendrick and Logan Eric Hendrick. His siblings include Mike Hendrick and wife Esther, Connie Waldrep and husband Benny, Susan Melton and husband David. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Marie Hendrick, brother-in-law Chris Murray and wife Vicki and sister-in-law Robyn Greene.

The family will receive friends from 1:50 to 2:50 PM Sunday, March 16, 2025 in the sanctuary of Elizabeth Baptist Church followed by a memorial service beginning at 3:00 PM. Rev. Dr. Rit Varriale will offer words of encouragement for those in attendance.
