Calvin Woodrow "Woody" Christopher

SHELBY- Calvin Woodrow "Woody" Christopher, 95, departed this earthy life Friday, August 3, 2018, at Hospice at Wendover. Born in Landrum, SC, he was the son of the late William Hendricks and Nellie Maud Cudd Christopher. He was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, an Army Veteran of WWII, and worked most of his life at Ora Mill, retiring from Doran. Woody was known for his unique style of square dance calling and respected for his calling knowledge. He loved his home, was a master gardener and enjoyed working in the yard.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Margaret Holland Christopher; daughter, Linda Christopher Hulsey; two brothers, WH "Red" and Samuel "Sam" Christopher; and sister, Doris Christopher McKee.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Margaret Willis Christopher; son, Calvin David Christopher and wife Sandy of Aiken, SC; stepsons, Bruce and Michael Dalton; a special grandson, Eric Darnell and wife Becky of Kings Mountain; two special great-grandchildren, Allie and Aden Darnell of Kings Mountain; and granddaughters, Starla Torres, Shannon Jewell, and Kelly Allen. The family would like to thank the staff at Kindred at Home and Hospice of Cleveland County for all their love and care they extended.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends, 9:30-11am, Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 11am, Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.

BURIAL: Will follow in Sulphur Springs UMC Cemetery with military honor's
