On Tuesday, February 7, 2023, Carl Ellis Edwards, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away. He was seventy-one.

Born to Carl and Marie Edwards on May 29, 1951, Carl grew up in a military family and developed a patriotic love for his country. After high school, he enlisted into the Air Force where he served honorably until his retirement on October 31, 1992.

Carl was a devoted church member, serving as a deacon in many of the churches of which he was a member, and was involved in various ministries such as printing Bible material and teaching classes.

Carl enjoyed spending time with his family, especially when it involved his hobbies of tinkering with computers or crafting a wood-working project. He also found joy in listening to music especially when his kids were playing their instruments or singing.

He will be dearly missed.

Carl Ellis Edwards was preceded in death by his father, William Carl Edwards Jr.; his mother, Marie Edwards; and his sister, Angela Edwards.

Carl is survived by his wife, Jane Taylor Edwards of Shelby, NC; his children, Jenni (Chad) Hayes of Kannapolis, NC; Aaron (Cathy) Edwards of Moravian Falls, NC; Benjamin (Jennifer) Edwards of Kings Mountain, NC; Isaac (Esther) Edwards of Sparta, TN; and Bethany (David) Smith of Travelers Rest, SC. As well as his grandchildren, Aaron Jr., Taylor, Cassidy, Michaela, Nathaniel, Cameron, Connor, Nicolas, and Anna Rose.

Carl is also survived by his siblings, Brenda (Talmadge) Goodnight of Newport, NC; Faye (Billy) Perritt of Chattanooga, TN; Phyllis (Ray) Sealey of Newport, NC; Debbie White of Duenweg, MO; and Charles Edwards of Beaufort, NC.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Morning Star Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. His memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM.
