Carl Samuel Bridges, 96, passed away Tuesday February 20, 2024 at Atrium Health in Shelby, NC.

Born in Cleveland County on February 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Carver Spurgeon Bridges and Jennie Dean Allen Bridges. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Annie Rae Bridges, brothers, Lee Bridges, Lawrence Bridges , Spurgeon Bridges, his sister Dorothy Bridges Hamrick Wilkerson, as well as a brother-in-law Rev. Charles Rabon. Carl embodied love and devotion as a son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He faithfully contributed to the Mt. Sinai Church Baptist Church, actively serving as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and trustee. Those who knew and loved Carl were influenced by his compassion and gentle words, making him a pillar in the community.

Carl is survived by his children, Annette Bridges Ledbetter (Lee), Samuel Richard Bridges (Beatrice Hayes Bridges), Sarah Jane Bridges, four grandchildren, Jason Ledbetter, Dana Ledbetter, Victor Bridges (Jessica), Joseph Carver Bridges (Beth), as well as, four great grandchildren, Logan Samuel Bridges, Chloe Ann Bridges, Ester-Mae Nicole Bridges and Kinsley Grace Marie Bridges. Also left to cherish his memory is his sister, JoLena Bridges Rabon and brothers Carver Don Bridges (Leila) and Allen Dean Bridges (Barbara).

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Trexler officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center following the burial.
