Mrs. Carolyn Hamilton Smith, 73, of Shelby, passed away Friday June 5, 2015 at Hospice Wendover. She was born April 17, 1942 in Lincoln County daughter of the late Conrad and Effie Bivins Hamilton. She retired after 37 years with Sears in Shelby. She was a member of Hoey Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Shelby Chapter #110 where she served as Past Worthy Matron.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Bobby Dean Smith, a son, Charles Alan Smith of Shelby, a daughter Tanya Diana Smith and her fiancé Dennis Peterson of Shelby, mother in law, Ruth Crilley, a sister Joyce Evelyn Lail of Shelby, a brother Carlos Wayne Hamilton and wife Donna of Blairsville, GA, two grandchildren Billie McGinnis and Aaron Smith, one great grandchild, Jaymie Lankford, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Hoey Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roy Byers and Rev. Pricilla Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, June 8, 2015 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and other times at the home of her Daughter Tanya, 109 Wease Drive, Shelby.
