Mrs. Carolyn Joyce Short Messer, 87, passed away Wednesday October 26, 2022 at Wendover Hospice in Shelby.
She is survived by four sons, Steve McEntire and wife Kay of Gaffney, SC, Danny McEntire of Blacksburg, SC, Tim Jones and David Jones both of Shelby; one brother, Boyd Short of Polkville, NC; five grandchildren, Kimberly, David Michael, Allen, David Wayne, and Shelly.
Born in Cleveland County on June 13, 1935, Mrs. Messer was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Desma Clark Short. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Howard Messer, three sisters, Lavertis Proctor, Catheline Byers, and Martha Moore.
A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 1st, 2022, 11am, at Community Baptist Church, 3306 Polkville Road Shelby, NC 28150, officiated by Rev. Scott Caldwell. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10am at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery immediately following the service.
