Carolyn Maryetta Peeler


Ms. Carolyn Maryetta Peeler was born on May 17, 1942, in Shelby, NC to the late William Forest Peeler and Elizabeth Marie Knightner Peeler.


Carolyn started school at Hopewell School in Shelby and finished High School at the Old Washington High School in Waco, North Carolina, where she was crowned, "Miss Washington". Carolyn moved to Newport News, VA at an early age where she worked for her uncle before moving to Richmond, Va. Richmond is where she started her nursing career, which lasted for over 50 years. She worked at Westminster Canterbury Assistance Living, Aspen Assistance Living, Horizon Bay Assistance Living and Gayton Terrace Assistance Living. She also worked Private Duty nursing for several families in the Richmond area. She loved her patients and gave them all the best care she could.
She was a member at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Richmond, VA.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, William "Bill" Peeler; and sister, Emily Peeler; brothers in law, Larry Ashe and Johnny Stokes.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories, a loving son, Mr. David (Erna) Peeler of New Rochelle, NY and a loving and devoted daughter, Miss Angela Peeler of Richmond, VA; a brother, James (Marie) Peeler of Shelby, NC; four sisters, Ms. Carrie Ashe of Danville, VA, Ms. Gwendolyn Stokes of Charlotte, NC, Mrs. Margaret (Thomas) McCluney of Shelby, NC, and Ms. Mattie Ross of Shelby, NC; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a devoted friend, Ms. Jacqueline Taylor and her daughter, LaTisha Taylor Smart, both of Richmond, VA; a dear friend for over 50 years, Mrs. Tomoria (Bernard)Freeman of Richmond VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who loved her dearly. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 a
