Catherine "Mawmaw" Wells Whitworth, age 85, died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Testa Hospice House in Kings Mountain. Born in York SC on June 12, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Charlie Wesley and Ida Della Jones Whitworth. Catherine was a lifelong member of Allen Memorial Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and worked in the nursery. She was the owner of Catherine Whitworth Daycare in Grover. She had a love for children and they lovingly called her "Mawmaw" In addition to her parents Catherine is preceded by her husband, Gene C. Whitworth;

Catherine is survived by a daughter, Cathy Whitworth of Grover; two sons Johnny Whitworth and wife Elizabeth of York SC. and Don Whitworth and wife Myra of Grover; a sister, Hazel Whitworth and husband Ray Fava of Clover SC; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Allen Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Moore and Rev. Norris Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
